Who should get this vaccine?
- Everyone ages 3 and older
- Adults 65+ (high-dose formulation may be available)
- Pregnant women

- Parents and close contacts of infants under 6 months

Side effects & contraindications
Common side effects
- Soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site
- Low-grade fever
- Muscle aches
- Fatigue or feeling unwell for 1 to 2 days
Side effects are usually mild and resolve within 1 to 2 days. They are signs that your immune system is building protection.
Rare side effects
- Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis): extremely rare
- Guillain-Barre syndrome: very rare, approximately 1 to 2 per million doses
Who should NOT get this vaccine
- Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to a previous flu vaccine or any vaccine component
- Children under 6 months of age
- People who are currently moderately or severely ill should wait until recovery
- History of Guillain-Barre syndrome within 6 weeks of a previous flu vaccine

Dosing Schedule
One dose annually, ideally before flu season begins, usually between September and October. It can also be administered throughout flu season.

Vaccine consent forms and Vaccine Information Statements (VIS) are provided before vaccination at participating pharmacy locations.
After your vaccination
Aftercare tips
- Apply a cool compress to the injection site if it feels sore
- Move your arm throughout the day to help reduce stiffness
- Stay hydrated and rest if you feel fatigued
- Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, if needed
